PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE:

Land Resources: The institute took possession of land measuring about 2 acres with a two-storied building leased out by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Manipur. A lease deed was signed on 18th April, 2002, between State Govt. of Manipur and Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The plot is connected with with N.C. Road (NH-53) by an approach road measuring about 1 K.M. IBSD has thus taken over the area covered by C.S. Dag No. 566 of village No.93 (Takyel Khongbal) IWT, Manipur under Patta No.203 (New) having a plinth area of 7480 sq.ft. The lease agreement will be in force until IBSD constructs its own building. The State Govt. of Manipur has committed to provide 15 acres of suitable land free of cost and has further assured that once the Institute becomes functional, experimental fields in different agro-climatic zones can be arranged later on.

Infrastructure: The Institute started functioning from April, 2001 within the office premises of Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC). The Institute shifted to its own building at Takyelpat, Imphal on 21st October, 2002.

The campus of the Institute was low-lying and to raise the ground level earth filling work has been done. Construction of internal road within the campus has also been completed. A sub-surface water storage tank having 16 KL capacity has also been constructed.

Design, drawing, estimate of cost etc. for Director's Room, Conference Hall, Office Space, Laboratories of three Divisions, Library and Sitting room for Scientist were done by M/s Tampak & Associates, a local Architect and as per their design and plan, renovation work was carried out to completion by Manipur Building & Co., Imphal West Building
